Nice little string of beautiful mornings. The last with Paul Czarnecki.
Flight #1202
I was a little apprehensive flying with the Skydiving gang this morning. It turned out to be a non event with only two under fabric. I launched about 10 minutes after the jumpers and spotted them two and a half minutes into the flight. Because I thought these two had jumped low and more were coming, I stayed low and away from the LZ.
The air was still at the surface and about 10 mph from the East above 200ft. Tomorrow looks to be similar.
I’ll be there.
Flight #1201
Impromptu flight. I awoke at 5 and the conditions were perfect.
No Drama except for some serious sink below 200 feet.
Lovely morning.
Flight # 1200
A minor milestone but
I have flown the last four mornings and I can’t remember the last time I did that. Again no drama. Beautiful conditions and smooth air.
Flights 1197 … 1198 … 1199
Three mornings in a row out at the meadows.
No Drama ….
#1197 and Flight #1198
1197 was not documented. First flight in a month.
No Drama
1198
The launch was slightly technical with a crosswind and swale to windward. I took extra time laying out the wing… It came up high to right, as expected,I corrected with right brake, turned down the runway and came up clean. Felt good…
There was a bumpy layer between 200 and 400 feet. I almost turned back but flew into clear air before cutting the flight short.
No Drama… The winds were steady from the east and increased with altitude.
Flight #1196
It’s been too long , a combination of cold mornings and a big trip have kept me grounded.
Flight # 1195
Short but sweet. Forecast was for 7 mph at dawn building to 9 mph at 9am. The reality was , calm at the surface with a steady 20+mph that held above 1000 ft. I was downwind the entire flight and was barely able to make headway in full reflex. When it became apparent that I wouldn’t be able to penetrate at a safe altitude I descended to 200 ft , pulled in trims and landed hot.
The videos were good on all three cameras. The selfie stick was the most interesting because it was apparent from the look on my face that I was somewhat concerned about getting back to the field. I was happy to see that once I’d committed my countenance appeared competent and focused.
Cheated death again!
